چکیده
The present a rt icle deals with t he calculation of t he electric field strength at t h e ground p lane near electrically small top-loaded a ntenn as having a known current distribution, with s pecial reference to Land T-a ntennas . The formulas a nd numerical values obtained here fo), t his component may be used in calculating t he contribu t ion to t he ground losses around a n a ntenna of t he above-mentioned type due to t he vertical component of t he eart h clll'rent. An exact ex pression involving an integral has been obta ined for the electri c field strength at the ground plane due to t he current in a linear an te nn a having an ar bitrary inclination . If the length a nd t he height of the a ntenna is small compared to the wavelength, and if t he current distribu t ion on the a nten na can be expressed by a fini te number of te rms of a power series, it is t heoretically poss ible to obtain a closed exp ress ion for t he fi eld at t he ground plane. H owever, only in special cases does t his expression become sufficiently simple to be of practical value for n umeri cal calculations. 'Working formula have bcen obta ined a nd numeri cal calculations carried out for t hE' n ear zone fi eld of an electrically small ver t ic!) l or hori zo ntal a nte nna with a linea r current d istribu tion. Based on t heSe res ult, a calculation has been made of the electri c fi cld s t rength at the ground plane near electri cally small La nd T-antenn as. Also the re lative eontribut io ll to thIS component due to th e top loading has been calculated.

FDTD Analysis of Top-Hat Monopole Antennas Loaded with Radially Layered Dielectric
Top-hat monopole antennas loaded with radially layered dielectric are analyzed using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Unlike the mode-matching method (MMM) (which was previously used for analyzing these antennas) the FDTD method enables us to study such structures accurately and easily. Using this method, results can be obtained in a wide frequency band by performing only one ti...
متن کاملCoupling Effects and Performance of Loran Transmitter Antennas
It is known that if a conductor resides in the neighboring of an antenna with a small distance relative to the wavelength, it induces a reverse current on the conductor. This paper involves the unavoidable coupling effects on some common types of LF antennas, due to the large wavelength in this frequency band. In particular, after some discussions about top-loaded antennas, the coupling effect ...
متن کاملA Novel Volcano Smoke Antenna with Optimal Shape
The design of a novel volcano smoke antenna for UWB indoor applications is presented. The design method is based on a general description for the geometry of UWB monopole antennas which is capable of producing most possible shapes for these antennas. It is also compatible with different optimization methods. In addition to a volcano smoke antenna, this method is used to design two optimized mon...

We study the radiation properties of electrically small resonant antennas (ka < 1) composed of electric-field-coupled (ELC) and complementary electric-field-coupled (CELC) resonators and a monopole antenna. We use such parasitic ELC and CELC “metaresonators” to design various electrically small antennas. In particular, monopole-excited and bent-monopole-excited CELC resonator antennas are propo...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling and Experimental Study of Probe-Fed Rectangular Dielectric Resonator Antenna (RDRA) Supported by Finite Circular Ground Plane
Dielectric Resonator Antennas (DRAs) have received increased interest in recent years for their potential applications in microwave and millimeter wave communication systems. DRAs are normally used with the support of a ground plane. The radiation and impedance properties therefore depend not only on their physical dimensions and dielectric properties, but also on the size of the ground plane. ...
